External content, processing of data outside the EU

It may happen that third-party content, such as maps from Google Maps, YouTube videos or information from other websites, is integrated into this online offer. This always requires that the providers of this content (hereinafter referred to as “third-party providers”) are aware of the users’ IP address, because without the IP address, they would not be able to send the content to the respective user’s browser. The IP address is therefore required to display this content. We strive to only use content whose respective providers only use the IP address to deliver the content. However, we have no influence if third-party providers store the IP address, for example for statistical purposes. As far as we are aware of this, we will inform you about it as part of this data protection declaration.

JavaScript content from external providers may also be used on our website. When you access our website, these external providers may receive personal information about your visit. Processing of data outside the EU is possible. You can prevent this by installing a JavaScript blocker such as the browser plugin 'NoScript' (www.noscript.net) or deactivate JavaScript in your browser. This can lead to functional restrictions.

Newsletter

You can order a free newsletter on our website.

Content of the newsletter

We only send newsletters, emails and other electronic notifications with promotional information (hereinafter “newsletter”) with the consent of the recipient or legal permission. Our newsletters contain information about current workshops, events and other Lillis Ballroom activities.

Use of the shipping service provider “MailChimp”

The newsletter is sent using “MailChimp”, a newsletter delivery platform from the US provider Rocket Science Group, LLC, 675 Ponce De Leon Ave NE #5000, Atlanta, GA 30308, USA. The company that operates MailChimp is certified according to the Privacy Shield requirements. In this respect, the requirements for data protection-compliant handling of the data are met. We have a so-called “Data Processing Agreement" completed. This is a contract in which MailChimp undertakes to protect our users' data, to process it on our behalf in accordance with its data protection regulations and, in particular, not to pass it on to third parties. You can read MailChimp's privacy policy.view here.

The use of the shipping service provider MailChimp, the implementation of statistical surveys and analyzes as well as the logging of the registration process are based on our legitimate interests in accordance with Article 6, Paragraph 1, Letter f of the GDPR. Our interest is in using a user-friendly and secure newsletter system that meets user expectations and serves our business interests.

Double opt-in and logging

Registration for our newsletter takes place in a so-called double opt-in process. After submitting your registration, you will receive an email asking you to confirm your registration. This confirmation is necessary so that no one can log in with a third-party email address.

Registrations for the newsletter are logged in order to be able to provide evidence of the registration process in accordance with legal requirements. This includes storing the registration and confirmation times as well as the IP address. The changes to your data stored at MailChimp are also logged.

Processed data

To register for our newsletter, all you need to do is enter your email address and confirm it using the double opt-in procedure. Optionally, we ask you to provide your first and last name. This information is only used to personalize the newsletter.

The newsletters contain a so-called “web beacon”, i.e. a pixel-sized file that is retrieved from MailChimp’s server when the newsletter is opened. As part of this retrieval, technical information is initially collected, such as information about the browser and your system, as well as your IP address and the time of retrieval. This information is used to technically improve the services based on the technical data or the target groups and their reading behavior based on their access locations (which can be determined using the IP address) or access times.

The statistical surveys include analysis of whether newsletters sent are opened, when they are opened and which links are clicked. For technical reasons, this information can be assigned to the individual recipients. However, it is not our aim to monitor individual users. The evaluations only serve to identify the usual reading habits of our newsletter recipients and to adapt our content accordingly. We use simple segmentation among our subscribers in order to be able to send interest-specific newsletters.

Furthermore, the following data is stored by MailChimp:

  • Date of last profile update

  • Geolocation / time zone:
Based on the email address, MailChimp carries out geolocation and uses a “geolocation service provider” to determine information about the IP address (geolocation data and any existing location information). Geolocation is also used to determine time zones. This in turn is used for the simultaneous sending of newsletters at certain times if necessary.
Geolocation is carried out both when subscribing to the newsletter and when opening newsletter emails. This function cannot currently be deactivated with MailChimp.

  • Language information:
If MailChimp can determine the language set by the user from the browser when subscribing to the newsletter or calling up links, this will also be saved within the profile. This function can be used in particular to create segments of subscribers by language. This allows me, for example, to send newsletter emails in English to subscribers who have set English as their default language in their browser. We cannot deactivate this function.

Storage period, correction, deregistration, deletion

In order to be able to send the newsletter, we store and process the data listed above until you unsubscribe from the newsletter by clicking on the unsubscribe link at the end of each newsletter. Alternatively, you can also unsubscribe by sending an email to info@tanzenohnegrenzen.org possible.

Unsubscribing will cause the data to be deleted.

The data can be corrected at any time by logging out and logging in again with the corrected data, as well as by correcting the data using the registration form on our website. Each newsletter contains the name and e-mail address, so a separate information option is neither necessary nor intended.

Information and objection

You have the right to free information at any time about your stored personal data, its origin and recipient and the purpose of data processing, as well as the right to correct, block or delete this data (as far as this is technically possible and does not contradict other legal requirements). You can contact us at any time about this or if you have any further questions on the subject of personal data.

Responsibility and information

The person responsible for processing is Ms. Petra Schön, a representative of the association, who can be reached atinfo@tanzenohneblumen.org.
