About Dancing Without Limits
Dancing Without Borders is a newly formed non-profit association that evolved from Lillis Ballroom , the first inclusive dance studio for sighted, visually impaired and non-sighted people and also has its official headquarters in Lillis Ballroom.
The association, whose activities are not aimed at making a profit, aims to deal with the topics of barrier-free dance, dance mediation, pedagogy and communication in a holistic manner. Since the founding of Lillis Ballroom in 2016, an inclusive method for teaching Latin American couple dances for sighted, blind and visually impaired people has been developed. Dancing Without Borders builds on the extensive dance and inclusion know-how developed by Lillis Ballroom.

The association was founded out of a need to raise public awareness of the issues of inclusion and accessibility and to make them more accessible to a wider audience.
Through our projects Move your Limits!, Dancing Diversity, Moving Together, and Inclusion in Motion—which are aimed at participants in the education system, whether they are K-12 students, college students, or educators in any field—we create spaces for direct engagement with the topic of inclusion through the medium of dance and movement. The goal is to create open and dynamic spaces for togetherness and to make diversity tangible as something ubiquitous and positive. Through interaction and self-awareness, we aim to raise awareness of the benefits and added value that a barrier-free, inclusive society brings to everyone involved.
Tanzen ohne Grenzen and Lillis Ballroom are always closely connected and continue to develop hand in hand. Lillis Ballroom’s specially developed pedagogical method was created through experimental learning and participatory group processes involving sighted, visually impaired, and blind dancers, instructors, and participants. The Tanzen ohne Grenzen team is mixed-abled. Here, people with and without disabilities work together as equals. Tanzen ohne Grenzen also aligns its goals with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and contributes to its implementation through its activities.
We make inclusion a tangible experience.
